UPDATE
The fundraising
committee for the Valley of the World Agricultural History & Education
Center has nearly reached its fundraising goal. As of October, 2001
$4.5 million has been pledged towards a goal of $4.6 million.
Donations are still needed to complete the Capital Campaign and also
to cover additional program needs such as school outreach and educational
programs. At the most recent meeting of the Valley of the World Committee,
a groundbreaking committee was formed, which will be co-chaired by
Bill Ramsey, Mann Packing, and James Bogart, President and General
Counsel, Grower-Shipper Association of Central California. “We’re
delighted that the vision of the agricultural wing is very close to
becoming a reality. Locals and visitors will get a chance to gain
a real appreciation for the agricultural industry and the people that
have contributed to it over time,” said Basil Mills, VP Agriculture
on the Steinbeck Center Board.
Donors will receive permanent recognition in the exhibits, depending
on their level of donation, and pledges may be made over a five year
period. Donations are still needed to cover ongoing expenses and future
