Community Partners Forum

February 22 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The National Steinbeck Center received a Museums for America (MFA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to strengthen the National Steinbeck Center’s museum as a public forum.  The original museum designer firm, Formations Inc. out of Portland, will come to Salinas to help with renovating/modernizing/re-conceptualizing the exhibits. A stakeholders’ meeting is part of that process to ensure that the museum meets the community’s needs.

Thursday, February 22st  we are holding an open community meeting with Formations for a front end evaluation of National Steinbeck Center’s permanent exhibit hall. Lunch will be provided.

We want the museum to be inclusive of Salinas’ rich history and culture–Steinbeck drew deeply from a sense of place. We wish to identify those parts of the museum most in need of renovation. We also want the museum to reflect the needs of the community and to engage different age groups.

Please RSVP to eric@steinbeck.org no later than Monday, February 19th
