La Pachanga: A Joyful Remembrance Exhibition

Annual Dia De Los Muertos – Day of the Dead includes the La Pachanga: A Joyful Remembrance Exhibition from October 29 through November 30, 2010.
Exhibit includes artwork by:
- Dr. Amalia Mesa-Bains, Chicana Artist, author and distinguished MacArthur fellow. Main Altar
- Angelica Muro, San Jose Artist and co-founder of Space 47 gallery, Prints
- Dio Mendoza, Notable Eureka Fellow, Sculpture
- Juan Luna-Avin, Multi-disciplinary artist,
- Pilar Agüero, Bay Area artist, Light installation of Cinco Angelitos
- Joined by various local artists as well
Join us November 2, 2010 as we observe and celebrate a night of spiritual remembrance. Start your journey at Hartnell College with Baile con La Muerte cultural exhibition from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Then join the walking procession from Hartnell to the National Steinbeck Center front steps for a welcoming Aztec dance. Performance by Yaocuauhltli dance group. Inside we welcome you to our La Pachanga exhibition, a community altar, hot chocolate, pan dulce (baked sweet breads) and music. Please bring offerings of flowers, photos, mementos of past relatives for the community altar. Dia de Los Muertos attire strongly encouraged.
