Join us at the National Steinbeck Center for an evening of authors and art as part of the Salinas First Friday Art Walk.
Meet the Author Series: G.M. Weger
Join us as we celebrate local author G.M. Weger’s award winning book East Garrison, A Novel. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a public reception with the author, cash bar and some nibbles. At 7:00 p.m. join us in the Salinas Room for a discussion of the book and its meaning, the author’s process and a digital presentation. Book-singing and Q&A to follow the talk. Fifty-four images by Tamra Dempsey. As we are reminded of Steinbeck’s great stories… envision the dreams and defeats of people as shaped by the land they inhabit. Exhibition is in the Gabilan Gallery, August 6 through October 22, 2010.
Steinbeck’s America: Rediscovering Travels with Charley photos by Randy Wells
John Steinbeck’s 1960 journey across the United States will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Randy Wells has followed Steinbeck’s route for over a dozen years, gathering images. Wells’ exhibit and film will stimulate the viewer’s imagination to go on a visual voyage across this great land and rediscover Steinbeck’s America. A book completing this project is planned for 2012. Exhibition is in the Museum Rotunda, August 6 through October 22, 2010.
