Photos by Randy Wells
John Steinbeck’s 1960 journey across the United States will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Randy Wells has followed Steinbeck’s route for over a dozen years, gathering images. Wells’ exhibit and film will stimulate the viewer’s imagination to go on a visual voyage across this great land and rediscover Steinbeck’s America. A book completing this project is planned for 2012. Exhibition is in the Museum Rotunda, August 6 through October 22, 2010.
Randy Wells has spent twenty-five years behind the camera. At last count, he logged more than half a million miles on the road photographing America full-time. Randy has been commissioned in all but three states, his photographs have won awards from American Photo, AR100, Communication Arts, How and Graphis, and his prints are held in multiple private and public collections, including the Smithsonian and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas.
